Our most-requested question type is being released with four different question format options: Selectable Drag & Drop, Drag & Drop Order, Numeric Rank Order, and Drop Down Order. Each type can be used with text or images. See screenshots below for examples:

HTML Formatting for Option Items and Matrix Rows:

By popular demand, we’ve added the option to add basic HTML styling to question item options and matrix rows. This means you can now do things like make one answer bold or a different color, add a line break within a matrix row, etc.

Multi-Language survey Preview:

Survey Admins and Editors can now preview their surveys in each language for which the survey is set. The survey will automatically preview based on the language chosen in the edit mode.

Enhancements:

• Survey workflow has been optimized to work with a larger number of pages and conditional logic.

• Several performance increases were made regarding how user data is loaded, which should increase overall performance of the application.

• Sorting lists can now be done by clicking on the column headers.
• Several IE10 compatibility issues have now been resolved. Checkbox v6 should now fully support Internet Explorer 10.

Bugs Fixes:

• Attempting to edit a survey that contains quotes in the name should no longer prevent the survey from being edited in the future.

• Fixed several encoding issues while viewing individual responses. This was preventing the view response page from loading correctly.

• Printing a response in Firefox or IE should now print the full response, not just the first page.

• Survey Administrators should no longer be able to complete a response for a deleted survey.

• Application should no longer throw an error when attempting to reset a password.

• Folder names can now contain up to 50 characters. This was preventing upgraded accounts from being able to edit folder names.

• Exporting a style should now export a file with the styles name instead of CheckboxStyleTemplate.

• Slider Item with Images should no longer cover the description text for the slider.

• Fixed the size of several dialogs to allow the ability to save the content within the dialog.

• Deleted objects should no longer appear in the universal search.

• Resolved several timeline issues which were preventing certain objects in the timeline from appearing.

Rank order with images is now available to all Checkbox Online (hosted) paid and trial accounts. Server customers will receive access to version 6.1, including the rank order question type, html options for question text update, and more within the next few days. I did a quick search for “spring cleaning” in my own cluttered inbox and I’m embarrassed to admit that I had search results showing up from 2008. I am officially an email hoarder. The clean-up doesn’t stop with email, either. We each have our own personal online empires to keep track of. In addition to email we have to organize our web-based photos, calendars, documents, contact lists, and yes, even our online surveys.

This spring, why not take a few minutes each day to tidy up your Checkbox account? Below are a few tips for keeping your Checkbox surveys and users safe and clutter-free:

1. Organize surveys into folders. Whether it’s by region, date, or some other category, establish a folder system that works for your organization. If you have multiple users accessing surveys and reports, be sure everyone is in the loop as to what belongs where.

2. Organize users into groups. Implementing user groups makes tasks like sending targeted survey invitations and setting access permissions for a group of users quick and hastle-free.

3. Make sure your user data is up-to-date. When uploading a list of users that already existing within the User Manager, Checkbox gives you the option to update existing user data, such as user roles, group memberships, and profile properties. This feature makes is easy to keep your user data current. Another way to update user data is to send a survey to existing users that includes a Profile Property Updater item. This item allows registered Checkbox users to update their own user information.

4. Export all surveys and responses and create backups. This should really be done on a regular basis to avoid having to do it all at once (most likely during spring cleaning time!). Backing up survey and response data is especially important if you have multiple users accessing surveys. If someone accidentally deletes a survey, you want to make sure you have a copy somewhere safe.

5. Filter surveys by keywords like “test”, “sample”, “example”, “copy” or other words that may indicate inactivity. These might be good candidates for removal. Remember to always export and backup copies of surveys before deleting.

Product Tour:

New users will be greeted with a click-through product tour that will point out the highlights and major features of Checkbox 6. The tur can be disabled at any time by clicking the “X” in the upper right corner. It can be re-enabled by clicking the Product Tour link in the application footer.

Give the border a substantial width (3px-5px) and set the border type to “Outset”.

After:

The added border gives the buttons a 3D appearance, making them easier for respondents to locate and enhancing the overall look of your survey!

Checkbox Survey Version 6 New Features:

• Redesigned Interface – Checkbox 6 features a completely overhauled interface that is not only more appealing, but also easier to use. We have streamlined the menus, reorganized options and menus into more intuitive configurations, and given the entire app a clean, modern facelift.
• Live Search and Filter – The Universal Search field is now a massive application-wide live search engine that displays phrase matches as you type. In addition to Universal Search, the same live search functionality is used for filtering list results for surveys, users, and other entities within Checkbox, allowing you to quickly and effortlessly locate desired information.
• Recent Activity Timeline – Version 6 introduces a real-time activity log on your account’s survey dashboard. It is now easier than ever to track and view the history of a survey, user, style, or report.
• Help Tool Tips – Due to the feature-rich nature of the application, configuring survey settings and permissions can sometimes be overwhelming for new Checkbox users. To help guide users through these settings, we’ve added “help tool tips” to the Survey Settings area of the Survey Editor. A help tool tip activates when a user hovers over a settings option, providing a description of that option. This in-application resource promotes a seamless and user-friendly workflow.
• Favorite Surveys – Checkbox now allows you to “star” your favorite surveys, which tags them as favorites and makes them much easier to find and access.

What else do I need to know about Checkbox 6?

With the release of version 6, we have decided to make a few additional changes to the structure of our server licenses. Starting with version 6, only Checkbox Server Enterprise licenses will include support for Active Directory and Web Farms

Who has access to version 6?

All Checkbox Server customers with active support contracts will have free access to version 6.  Please see the chart below for more details regarding the download you will have access to.

How do I get Checkbox 6?

Once we announce the release, please visit the Product Download section of your Customer Support area and click the link that says “Request access to version 6”. Once approved, your Checkbox 6 download will appear within your Product Download area within 24 hours.
