Default link registered users to responses

I've got a multi-page survey with 100 user repsonses created in Ultimate Survey 3.0.10 with survey security set to public. We have the usernames and IPs associated with each of the 100 responses (recorded as items within each survey response). We will upgrade this survey instance to Checkbox 4.1.14 in next couple weeks. After the upgrade, we'd like the 100 users who took this survey to be able to resume / edit their survey responses. However, many of the cookies will have been lost, and many of the survey responses occurred 6 months or more ago. We will have all 100 users registered on the new Checkbox version, and we will know which registered users are associated with which survey response (even though the survey was setup with "public" security). QUESTION (1): Can we add into the database the "username" information, associated with the correct response, and then have this survey setup as a "All Registered Users" survey so that a user can continue to edit their response as a registered user in Checkbox? How can we accomplish this? QUESTION (2): Can we add and / or delete questions items to this survey, and what is the impact of making such additions / deletions?

Generally we do not support directly altering the database because circumventing the product's business rules can have unintended consequences. Before making any changes to the database we strongly recommended making a full backup first.

1A) You will need to upgrade to Checkbox first. Once you have done so you should be able to associate individual responses to users by altering the ckbx_Response table. For each response you would like to associate with a particular user you will need to ensure that the ckbx_Response.UniqueIdentifier is set to the user's UniqueIdentifier and that the RespondentGUID is set to null. You can find a user's UniqueIdentifier in the ckbx_Credential table.

2A) Deleting a question or altering the order of item options will result in the loss of all responses associated with that question. You can add additional questions with out impacting collected responses. It is our recommendation that you make a copy of the survey and edit the copy if you intended to make significant changes.
