Reports - Piping Question

Sorry if this post is in the wrong location - I wasn't sure where to put it ...

My question is about when you build reports. I've used piping to pass information from question to question - but in my report I get @@006139 printing instead of the data that was passed. What I want is for the data the respondent selected to be passed - not the code. Is it possible to do that? Or is this where you would use the alias feature?

We are using Checkbox v4.7.1.37.

Reports show data in aggregate form, meaning the data spans multiple responses. Piped data is valid for a single response so each piped value could be different for each response and wouldn't generally make sense in a report.
