New to Checkbox
I was hoping to find more information on this forum but it seems like its fairly new and not many people have signed up yet. Checkbox has been rated as the best survey programs out there but I'm still not convinced that it will meet all of our needs. We create some complex surveys in the medical industry and we were hoping that there were more formatting features available for the survey screens. I don't know why there aren't features such as spacing or tabbing of items so they could be indented to allow for a better looking screen. Only allowing for left, center and right doesn't quite fill this need. It would only take a few additional formatting features to make the displays much more flexible and much better looking.
It would also be useful if items could be entered in two columns to make use of the entire screen but this may be asking too much.
Are these types of features going to be available in future version or is there some work around possibly by using the developers kit.
I would appreciate any information that anyone has about upcoming version or similar experiences in trying to create complex surveys and how they overcame the limitations.
Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,
First, welcome to the forums.
Regarding your suggestions, can you clarify how you'd like the tabbing and spacing to work? I'm not 100% sure what you would like with these features.
We do have more advanced layout features on our roadmap, but there isn't an ETA on this feature yet.
With the application source code, you could certainly modify the layout any way you choose. All of the survey items are implemented as .NET server controls that are sequentially laid out on the page. To implement tabbing or spacing, you could change one of the base classes to insert tabs/spaces for all items. To introduce columns, you could modify the code that lays the controls out on the survey page.
We are always looking to expand on the display options, so your input is appreciated.

I appreciate that there might be a way to adapt checkbox to our needs. First of all we are currently using managed host to see how we like Checkbox. We may consider purchasing the program at a later date. Is there a way to modify the survey layout while Prezza Tech is hosting our surveys. Also, is the developers kit necessary to have this abilty.
Thanks, Jeff

With our hosted service, you can use the Style templates to control the look and feel of your surveys, and we are constantly adding new layout options to the software, which we will update for you on your hosted installation.
The Developer Kit is available if you purchase the server based software, as opposed to the hosting, and this would indeed allow you to have a greater level of control over the layout, because you would have access to the .aspx and master pages.John Fischer
