Is there any way to make error messages more specific? We'd like to help the user find the error by at least listing which question generated the error and preferably why. As in, "You are only allowed to enter 3 responses for question 15. Please edit your response and submit again." That sort of message would be more helpful than the generic message that is currently being generated which just states there is an invalid or missing response.

It is not possible to customize validation messages per question. When a validation error is triggered a more specific explanation is displayed beneath the offending question. If you would like to make this text more prominent you can edit how it is displayed using the style manager.
