piping passwords

When I try to pipe passwords they render as gibberish. Is this because they are stored encrypted? Why give an option to pipe a password if it won't pipe correctly? Or is there some other problem that would cause that to happen?

Based on your description of the issue it sounds like an encrypted password is being displayed. Because the passwords are hashed there is no way to display the plain text once they have been encrypted.

I agree that a user's password should not be an available pipe when encryption is enabled. I have opened a developer tracker item for this issue.
