Top X ranking
Hello,
Can I provide survey participants with a list of 20 items and ask them to rank the top 5 (top 3, top 10, etc.) in priority sequence and not allow them to rank the other options?
I thought about a matrix with drop downs (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and enabling "Each answer in this column must be unique", but I cannot make it required (a preferred requirement) without "An answer is required" appearing.
Thanks,
Steve

If a column is marked as required you will need to provide an answer for every row in the matrix. Based on your description this will not be possible as you have more rows than unique answers.
Would it be possible to redesign the question? If so, one work around would be to create a matrix question where the rows represented the rank and the drop down list contained the items to be evaluated.
