Moving Ultimate Survey To New Server
Hi Guys,
We moved Ultimate Survey 3.0 Enterprise to a new server, and now when we launch it in a web browser, we get the following error:
"The license for this installation could not be validated The license for this installation of Ultimate Survey Enterprise was not properly activated. This could be because the license file was copied from another machine, or because the license was not activated during the activation grace period."
I can't get into the app to reset the activation. Please let me know what I need to do to activate it on the new server.
Thanks in advance,
John

When you look in your Bin folder, are there now 1 or 2 total license files?
If there are 2, delete the older one.
Once you have 1 file, make sure that it is not Read Only and that the ASP.NET machine account and IUSR have access to read from it.

Please review the following knowledgeable articles on common license issues:

You have not detailed steps taken during the migration process but I suspect that you will need to download a clean copy of your license. A license file is only valid on the computer it has been activated on.

Ok, thanks to both of you. I'm very close now. I re-downloaded my license file, copied it into my bin folder. I made sure that the IUSR user has read and write rights. I launched the site again in my browser. It now comes up, lets me in, and says "requires activation" at the top of the screen.
I then go to settings/application settings, and click activate. The window pops up, and I click the activate button. It goes out, tries, and says the activation was not sucessful. I tried a couple more times, but same results. Do I need to "request and activation?"
Can it still be done online?
Thanks,
John

It appears that we are experiencing a problem with our forum software. I saw that you posted a response that has been removed. I contacted the team who manages the forums and they are looking into the issue.
To answer your question, you can request a manual activation online at Request Activation - Prezza Technologies, inc . In order to rule out a permissions issue I would suggest granting the Everyone group full access to the license file while you are trying to activate.

Ok, I tried the manual activation via Ultimate Survey, and nothing happens. I just click the button, and no function. I went to the link you provided, and it's asking for a "machine code." What is the machine code? I have my serial number, and my .iic file, but no machine code.
Please advise.
Thanks,
John

. I clicked on "request activation via e-mail, and there it was. I have submitted a request for activation via the website. I hope this works.
