Checkbox Survey Solutions is pleased to announce the “mini-release” of Checkbox version 4.6.2.  This latest version of Checkbox includes many updates and fixes specifically requested by our customer base. We love to hear from you – keep the suggestions coming! Updates include:

• Answers to open-ended questions can now be included in Native SPSS and SPSS‐compatible CSV exports.
• Survey questions and option texts included as Variable and Value Labels in Native SPSS export.
• Improved export performance for large surveys and result sets by writing data to temporary file before download.
• Allows downloads of all parts of split response data export as a single .zip file. 

The version 4.6.2 update is currently available for server customers by logging into the Checkbox customer area. Online customers were updated on Saturday June 27, 2009.

In Checkbox 4.6 folders have been added to the Report Manager page.  Folders add an additional layer of security and as a result some reports may no longer be visible.  Please note that reports themselves have not been altered in any way.  To resolve this issue you will need to update folder Access Control Lists and grant Report Administrators the permissions to view the folder’s contents.

How to edit a folder’s ACL:

• Navigate to the Survey Manager
• Find the folder you would like to edit and open it.
• Click on the Security icon (it looks like a pad lock).
• a) If you would like to grant access to a specific user or group add them to the ACL and grant the “View Folders and Folder Contents” permission.
• b) If you would prefer that everyone is allowed to view the contents of the folder click the “Edit Default Policy” button and select the “View Folders and Folder Contents” permission.

Please be aware that on Saturday May 16th, Checkbox Survey Solutions will be upgrading all Online Hosted Accounts to Checkbox Survey version 4.6. 

Checkbox Survey Software will be unavailable between the hours of 8am and 12pm (EST) while the upgrade process is performed.

Watertown, MA – April 22nd, 2009 - Checkbox Survey Solutions, the leader in professional online survey and feedback solutions, today announced its latest release of Checkbox Survey Software.  Further enhancing its core feature set and reporting and data export functions, Checkbox Survey 4.6 offers the most professional, user-friendly, and customizable online survey solution on the market.

Checkbox 4.6 has added new folder hierarchies to the Invitation and Report Managers, which improves performance and simplifies the search for reports and invitations.  Version 4.6 also allows survey editors to deactivate survey items to prevent them from being shown to respondents.  Existing answers to deactivated items will still appear in reports and data exports, and those items may be re-activated at any time.  The latest release of Checkbox has also added several new export options to provide greater flexibility for analyzing survey results, including export to native SPSS (.sav) format.  Additional features include new test response management, an invitation summary page, a new user import wizard, and role-based welcome messages.  In addition to many new features, Checkbox v4.6 has further enhanced its performance and functionality by advancing survey caching, data exporting, and report editing.

Children’s Hospital Boston is one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States and home to the world’s largest research enterprise based at a pediatric medical center.  About two years ago, Children’s Clinical Research Information Technology group (CRIT), who provides technology support and services to hospital researchers, began to see an influx of requests for IT services and survey based research.
